The Sorensens trace their North American roots back over a hundred years to Jürgen, a Danish brick mason who emigrated to New York in 1910. During the Gilded Age, Jürgen served as a crew chief on such notable Gold Coast projects as Caumsett and the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception. With the onset of the Great Depression, Jürgen launched a charter fishing boat at Huntington Harbor, where he would serve-out his working days as its operator. Luke is Jürgen's great grandson, an ABYC-Certified Marine Electrician and experienced refitter of classic fiberglass yachts. Luke's on-board experience began at early childhood when, at age 5, he and his late twin brother, Jesse became deck hands aboard their father, Roger's commercial lobster boat. At the same time, the twins' grandfather, Vincent Sorensen was an accomplished and well-liked craftsman at Willis Marine Center in Huntington. Vincent had served in the Pacific War, and upon his return, found his calling as a young carpenter at Augie's Boat Shop, a former Huntington-based builder of small craft. With 44 years of service to the local marine community, Vincent retired in 1991 as a true master of his trade.
